Bucket List

Nothing like a blizzard to make you find any excuse to not go outside. I've been fortunate in my 1.5 years in NYC to not really experience a crazy winter. My first winter here, we had one snow storm, where the city shut down Friday through Sunday. It was great! There were no cars in the streets and the snow was actually powdery snow, not ice blocks. Zoey loved running around, and it wasn't too cold out.

There was another storm in January 2017, but I was traveling, so I didn't have to go through it. But this latest "blizzard" has not been fun. First, we were supposed to get 2 feet of snow overnight, and it was going to be a massive storm. It's my spring break this week, and since I'd canceled my trip due to my recent adventures in Australia and New Zealand, my consolation for staying home was booking a spa day. For Tuesday. The day of the storm. Because it was supposed to be a snowmageddon, I canceled it. When we woke up on Tuesday morning, there was barely even a foot of it. And it wasn't real snow, because it's too cold to snow. It was just ice everywhere. The little bit of powder had already frozen, so that it's much harder to clean or walk without dancing. And it's soooo windy. Weather.com had a gael advisory, I'd never even seen that before. That's the part that sucks, because the wind picks up the little shards of ice and slam it into your face, so that after a 15-minute walk, you get home and stand in front of the heater to thaw out. And to feel even better about it, because it's spring break, I decided it was about time to catch up with my writing. I went to Australia and haven't even posted a single picture of it. That was a whole 2 months ago!!

So, to get some inspiration, I started by playing with the blog design. I'm always playing with it. Which is great, because it keeps my HTML skills sharp, but it also takes time away from the writing. So the goal is to, from now on, only mess with the design every 5-6 posts, no playing before that. One of the things I've been wanting to add to the blog for a while now is a bucket list. There are a number of things I want to do or accomplish in my life, but I've never truly kept a running list of it. I won't write about every piece I cross off, but the list will always be updated under Bucket List. So while you're reading that, I'll be over here catching up on all my writing, especially as a number of those items have given me new topics to write about!
