Cate and Chloe - March
Now that I've received my first subscription box of March (Birchbox), the others have flooded in. On Thursday, I received my Cate and Chloe box, probably the one I was most excited for since I love jewelry. I was unsure whether to start with this box due to the steep price ($40), but figured I could cancel it if I didn't like it.
As all subscriptions boxes, Cate and Chloe included a card with a description of the items for this month's box. They also included a card with a description of current jewelry trends, which I found pretty cool.
My first item out of the box was a plush bag with 4 gold chocolate coins in it. I know I'm supposed to receive a gift with my first month of the subscription, but I don't think this bag is it. I looked at the review from My Subscription Addiction, and it looks like she received this bag in last month's box as well, so maybe it's a staple in the box? Either way, I have yet to receive my subscription gift.
Mary "Motherly" Necklace - value $92
I loooove this necklace. It's a very simple and classic piece. It's a circular CZ Stone Pendant that shines with any small movement. I also liked the chain, not too chunky or cheap looking with such a great pendant. I will absolutely be wearing this piece often.
Ashlyn "Nature" Pearl Leaf Earrings - value $80 (?)
I could not find this piece on the Cate and Chloe website, so it may be a limited edition for the box only. I don't normally wear gold colored jewelry, and these earrings are not at all my style. I'm typically a sucker for pearls, but the twisties, pearl, and leaf design just don't mesh together in my opinion. I will try to put this up on the swap list on My Subscription Addiction.
Overall, I think the box was a bit of a miss for me this month. I love the necklace, but it's not a "new" piece. I could have easily gone to any jewelry store around and found the same necklace. The earrings are not at all my style, so I'll be passing it on. Since it's an expensive box, at $40 per month, I will wait for next month's box and determine if I'll keep or discontinue my subscriptions.
