Birchbox - February

I got my first subscription box yesterday!! It's an awesome feeling opening your mail box and seeing a present in there. Of course, I couldn't wait to dig into it. First thing I noticed before I even opened the box was how it was addressed to me. "The Lovable Natalia". I thought that was a small touch that really made me smile. One of those little things that a company does, that makes you appreciate them even more.

When I opened the box, I was surprised to find the card that said February! Considering I got it yesterday, March 3rd, I'm guessing that since I signed up on February 15, they still wanted to get me a box for February, so sent it soon after my order had been processed. Either way, I'm super excited to review my first box.

As all subscription boxes, Birchbox included a card with descriptions of all items in the box. They also included two coupons in this month's box, one of which had already expired considering this was a February box. There were five items in this month's box.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle - 1 oz (?) value $2.75

BeeKind Shampoo - 1 oz value $1.88

I got two hair products. The Beauty Protector detangling spray smells amaaazing. It's sweet-smelling but not overpowering. I haven't had a chance to use it, but I'm looking forward to seeing if it'll keep my hair from getting into knots that would make a sailor proud.

The second was the BeeKind shampoo. My hair tends to get bored if I keep using the same shampoo and conditioner, and starts doing its own thing. So I'm excited to try this out and see if it'll become a new favorite. And I love that it smells like honey!

Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream - 0.5 oz value $0.92

I somehow cannot ever have enough lotion or body cream! Now that I've been riding the bus to work instead of driving in, I am going through lotion like crazy. I'm not a super germaphobe, but when you walk into the bus and 10 of the 20 people are coughing or sneezing, you tend to get a little paranoid. So, as soon as I sit down, I use a bit of anti-bacterial gel, then cover my hands in lotion to get the gross alcohol smell off. In short, this little tube won't last me the week! It's great that the smell isn't super strong either, so no one will be glaring at me sideways on the bus.

Lord & Berry Pailettes Eye Pencil - 0.01 oz value $4.50

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Creamy Lip Stain - 0.079 oz value $9.30

These two products were my least favorite from the box. The lip stain is a bit more coral than I would wear. I hardly ever wear bright lip glosses or lipsticks. I tend to stick to just clear or shimmery lip balm. I will try to swap this in My Subscription Addiction, since I know I won't wear it.

The eye pencil could go on a bit smoother. It's not very sharp which is great since it doesn't hurt when applying. However, it's a bit streaky and requires multiple passes. Also, it's supposed to have a bit of glitter to it, but I didn't see anything shiny when looking in the mirror.

Verdict:

I love three of the five products I received, adding to a total of $5.55. Since the box costs $10 per month, it didn't come through for me value-wise. However, I'm excited to try the new brands and see if the eye pencil will go on a bit smother with every use.
