BarkBox - December

Since I was out of town for the holidays, I didn't get December's BarkBox until I returned in January. After opening the box, my nose was assaulted by the smell of peppermint. Somehow I'd managed to forget that the box was likely to be holiday themed, and was not at all prepared for that. Luckily, Zoey wasn't home when I opened the box. However, she did manage to get on the kitchen counter when she came in and smelled it.

There were five items in December's box: 2 toys, 1 bag of treats, 1 chew stick, and a holiday themed bandana. I love the card they send in the box too. It's got a description of each item, which is usually pretty entertaining.

The bright red bulb is the peppermint culprit. This thing is tough. It's rubber and heavy. I think Zoey will like this and have a hard time completely destroying it, although I fully expect some damage to the edges.

The plush Christmas tree will likely burst within 15 minutes of her playing with it. For such a small dog, the terrier in her comes out and manages to rip out all the stuffing. It's cute, but I don't expect it to last too long.

I'm sure Zoey will love the biscuits. She's pretty obsessed with anything containing peanut butter. The fact that it only contains 4 ingredients (flour, peanut butter, banana, and turkey bacon) makes me super happy too. I may not have the best diet as a person, but I'm pretty picky when it comes to Zoey's food and treats.

The chew stick I'll likely donate to Petco again. The first time I gave Zoey a chew stick, she managed to break off a huge chunk and then choke on it. Since then, I've avoided giving her chew sticks. She also gets very possessive of it, and it can be hard to take away, even if she is choking.

Zoey typically does pretty well with clothes in general, so she should be able to wear the bandana just fine. Here she is, just modeling it for us (it's a bit big). However, since it's holiday themed, I may have to stash it till the end of the year.

Overall, I like the box. The peppermint bulb toy seems tough, so it may last a few weeks with Zoey. I imagine the tree plush toy will be ripped to shreds within 15 minutes though. If I had purchased each item separately, it would have cost me $41. However, if I purchased just the items that I thought would be good for Zoey (red bulb, biscuits, bandana), it would have cost $30, so I think overall the box evened out with what I paid for the month.

She really liked the peppermint red bulb, her tail is wagging so fast you can't even see it.
