Ipsy - April Review

I've been so excited to get my Ipsy and Birchbox every month. I'm not a super girly girl who wears makeup everyday, but these beauty boxes are so customizable that I love every item I receive. And this month was no exception!

Unlike other subscription boxes, Ipsy does not include a card detailing the products in the box, which is a bit annoying. Even though I have an iPad and am pretty attached to it, when I'm going through my new items, I don't want to have to log in to my account to find out what they are, I just want it right there on the counter to go off of. But anyways, just being nitpicky.

The theme for this month was Beautifully Bohemian, which I was very excited about. I knew that the items would likely be more neutral in color and glittery, which I have no problem with.

(Love the jewelry the model is wearing!!)

I loved this bag!!! I love the colors, size, and texture to it. It's super cute and sturdy. It's also lined on the inside, so if any eye shadow gets loose, it's easy to wipe it clean.

Hikari blush - 0.21 oz value $15

This is a full size product!!! I loved this color. It matches my skin tone perfectly, but is also pretty shiny, so I have to be careful to not go overboard. Plus, the case is so pretty.......

NUDE Dude Eyeshadow - 0.035 oz value $3

I thought this item was pretty hilarious. Typically Ipsy sends out an email with spoilers a couple of days before your package is due to arrive, and this was the item they listed, but with no picture. I'm a curious person by nature, but I've been trying really hard to not look at the spoilers and just wait till my box comes in. And I'm glad I did it for this one.

Right away when I took it out I burst out laughing. It's pretty entertaining packaging, and tiny!! I blanked on the email and actually thought this was a small package of gum, containing like 3 small pieces. But lo and behold, I actually really like it. And the brown is dark enough that I can wear it as an accent color. Plus, there's a small magnetic close to it, so it won't just hang out open and smearing everywhere in your bag.

Jor'el Parker Femina - 8.8 ml value $21

I also loved this fragrance. I really feel like the most used word in this post might be "love" but it's really how I feel! When I looked up this item, it directed me to Harvey Prince, a brand I've been completely obsessed with lately (uh Hello Shampoo anyone??).

I'm also pretty sure that this item was created for Ipsy subscribers! While you can purchase it at Harvey Prince, it feels pretty cool getting it as part of my box. Plus, it smells amazing!!! It may just be crazy me talking, but I swear it smells like cotton candy. And the fact that it's a roller ball just makes it even easier to put in your bag and go.

Hey Honey Good Morning - Honey Silk Facial Serum - 10ml value $13.67

I have not yet used this item. I'm always a little scared to put creams and serums on my face that I haven't used before, which doesn't really make sense since there will always be a first time for a product right? I did open it and it smells pretty strongly of honey, so I'm not sure if it'll be a bit too overpowering when actually spread on my skin. But I will make a concerted effort to try it soon!

Starlooks Satin Finish Lip Gloss - 0.3 oz value $4 (?)

This was probably my least favorite item in an otherwise sensational box. I like lip gloss, a lot actually, but the shade "Cuddle", which was sent to all subscribers, just isn't my taste. So I've passed it on to a new and happier home.

Verdict:

I looooooved this month's box. At a value of $56 it completely blew me away. With the exception of the lip gloss that I've already passed on, the fragrance and blush have found a permanent home in this month's bag in my every day purse. Super happy with this subscription and can't wait for new items to come!
